To the Square!

Last night, we went to downtown Arequipa. What a wonderful city! We walked around in the commercial district, Arequipa´s Michigan Avenue. The shops range from men´s clothes, to electronics, to casinos, and pratically everything you need. The streets here remind me of narrow Italian streets, barely enough room for two cars on opposite sides of the street. We walked into a multilevel mall that had many cool and interesting Inca art for sale. (Whoaa!). But the most fun part of the downtown would have to be the square. I think the square was the most facinating. On one side of the four-sided square, there is a gigantic church. (as seen right) Look how beautiful it is!

Today, I went through my first day of school. It is quite different than the average American school. The students stay in the same classroom, and the teachers come to their classroom; much different from my school back home. They have 4 classes, each 2 hours. Between classes, they have a 15 minue break. During the break, you can rest, play soccer or go to the ¨cafeteria¨ (much more like a snack bar). The school is also very nice, with many different buildings. We had part of one class outside under the trees.

Later today, I´m going to get together with my fellow classmates and have some pizza. I can´t wait to tell you more. So, Have a good day!
