Help GuimarasI I would like to write to you all about the recent oil spill tragedy in Guimaras, Philippines. Guimaras is a tiny island in Southern Philippines known for its rich marine biodiversity, white beaches, mangrove and seaweed plantations. But on August 11, an oil tanker carrying oil from Petron company sank in Guimaras waters affecting as much as 300 kilometers of coastline, 65,000 hectares of mangrove and seaweed plantations including 26,000 individuals displaced from their homes, most of them fishermen who depend on fishing as their livelihood. More than 900 individuals have been treated from respiratory infections and skin diseases due to exposure from high toxic levels of harmful elements and exposure to oil. Please join our group here at TIG (search Save Guimaras) or help me spread awareness by joining me at http://saveguimaras.wordpress.com/ (we will launch http://www.saveguimaras.com/ this week). You can also visit other groups who are involved in helping Guimaras. www.projectsunrise.org http://sludge.wordpress.com/ forward this letter to your friends. thank you tuesday

School Shooting: Not Again!
Related to country: Canada

Well, another school shooting, similar to the one that took place in Russia, took place today. Here are the details:

- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Although police initially suggested that the gunman had killed himself, they later said at a news conference that “based on current information, the suspect was killed by police.”

CBC-TV showed police with guns drawn standing behind a police cruiser as a SWAT team swarmed the 12-acre campus. A bloody body covered in a yellow sheet lay next to a police cruiser near an entrance to a school building.

Earlier reports indicated only 12 people had been injured. The Montreal General Hospital said it admitted 12 people, including six who were in critical condition. Two were listed in serious condition and four were stable.

Student Devansh Smri Vastava said he saw a man in military fatigues with “a big rifle” storm the school’s cafeteria.

“He just started shooting at people,” Vastava said, adding that he heard about 20 shots fired. He also said teachers ran through the halls telling students to get out.

Other witnesses spoke of a gunman wearing a black trench coat.

Well, My opinion is: What kind of person would shoot people trying to learn and create a better life for themselves. I mean, Who, i mean WHO, would try to shoot students. Well, I think this is quite similar to some of the shootings in Russia. Thats all for now.

Back To the Ol' Grind
Related to country: United States

Back to school today. It was pretty good. I met some of the other students from younger grades and met my new teachers. Most of them I actually liked. Most people say: School, Drool. Well, they might sometimes be right. But, most days, wrong. Well, thats enought for now.

What A Terrific Day!
Related to country: United States

Wow! I had a GREAT day! It was the last day until school starts again. I went on a 18 mile bike ride (roundtrip) through one of Milwaukee's best lake front bike trails. The scenery was terrific! We even saw some deer (see picture). It was also a great time for me and my dad to bond. We stoped by a golf clubhouse for a snack and a unique Italian Marked (called something with a G). I'm not really ready to go back to school, but it will be great to see all my friends again! Well, what a wonderful life.
